AWC Engineering Ltd. - Overview

»Tuesday, January 12,2010

AWC Engineering Ltd. are specialist engineers to the materials recycling industry. The company was formed based on 25+ years experience in the recycling industry processing large volumes of tyres, Ewaste (WEEE) and copper cable.

Our company was formed by a director of the company UK Metal Processors Plc, Adrian Crompton following the sale of the recycling business to the Sims Metals Group of Australia in 2004. Whilst no longer processing materials, AWC Engineering have applied their knowledge and experience to the benefit of its ever increasing list of customers.

We can design, build and maintain specialist granulators, shredders and processing equipment without compromise to give you the edge over your competitors.

If you are looking to install new equipment or production lines you could gain from our experiences.

From simple one machine systems to complete production lines, we can supply the equipment you require at a competitive price.

Our core products are as follows:

Single Shaft Shredders From 15kW–265kW for processing Plastics, Wood, Rubber, Films etc.

Throughputs from 100 – 15,000kg per hour

WT & WTB Series – General Duty
WTF Series – Film & Woven Materials
WTW Series – Specifically for Wood
WTP Series – Specifically for Pipes

These machines use a single rotating drum with numerous cutter blades fixed to the outer diameter.

As these blades interact with the fixed blades the materials are shredded. We use various different rotor configurations depending on the properties of the materials being processed.

A hydraulic powered pusher feeds the material into the cutters to maximize throughput. The outlet of the machine is fitted with a screen to control the size of the finished product.

Standard Model Specifications – Single Shaft Shredders

Twin Shaft Shredders From 7.5kW-250kW for Tyres, E-Waste (WEEE), Household Waste, Plastics,Wood, Metals etc. Throughputs from 200-30,000kg tons per hour.

GL Series – General Duty
GLP Series – Specifically for Drums and Hollow Materials

These machines use two sets of interacting blades to shear the materials being processed. The shred size can be determined by the type of blade used i.e. blade width, number of teeth, blade angle etc.
Unlike many of our competitors, our machines are driven directly on the end of each shaft, reducing transmission power losses and delivering maximum force where it’s needed, at the tip of the shredding blade.

Where a uniform shred size is required we can supply rotating screens which recirculate the material through the shredding chamber until the desired shred size is achieved.

We also offer our GLP range of machines which are fitted with a special hydraulic pusher unit to force material into the blades. These machines are particularly suitable for shredding bulky, hollow products such as drums, containers, bins etc which can ride on the blades of a standard machine.

Standard Model Specifications – Twin Shaft Shredders

Granulators From 15kW-200kW for Plastics, Rubber, Copper Cable etc. Throughputs from 100-4,000kg/hr

PC Series – General Duty
LGF Series – For pre-shredded tyres & metals

Our range of granulators are for the fine size reduction of recyclable materials. Ideally a granulator would be positioned behind a pre shredder to further size reduce the material to 4-20mm pieces. These machines have single rotating shaft which is fitted with replaceable knife type blades. As the shaft rotates the blades interact with multiple rows of fixed blades creating a scissor type effect, thus cutting the materials. The bottom of the cutting chamber is fitted with a classifier screen to control the finished material size.

We offer a number of different rotor configurations to suit the different types of materials being processed.

Due to the high speed cutting action, granulators can be fairly noisy when operating. If required we can supply the machines with custom made sound enclosures to limit the amount of noise generated.

Standard Model Specifications – Granulators

Vertical Crushers From 75kW-220kW for processing friable materials such as E-Waste, Glass, Aluminium, Circuit Boards etc.

Throughputs up to 30,000kg/hr

Our range of vertical crushers are ideal for secondary processing of pre-shredded E-Waste and light gauge friable metals.

These machines have single rotating shaft mounted vertically with three different sections. The top section of the rotor is a breaker bar which smashes the material into smaller pieces suitable for grinding in the lower section.

The lower section is fitted with numerous grinders held in place by pins which allow them to spin. As the pins spin the material is broken down into smaller pieces against the outer shell of the crusher cone.

Beneath the grinders there are adjustable “choke rings” which prevent oversize material from falling into the lower section of the rotor.

The bottom section of the rotor is a two piece paddle which throws the material into the outlet chute.

The liner shells of the crushing chamber and lower grinder rings are manufactured from extremely tough, wear resistant, manganese steel. All components are easily replacable.

Standard Model Specifications – Vertical Crushers

Complete Plastic Recycling Plants

Using our experience and our wide range of equipment we can supply complete plastic recycling plants which can shred, granulate, mill, wash and pelletize materials as required so they are suitable
for reuse in the manufacture of new products.

We design the various plants according to our customers specific requirements depending on the following criteria:

a) Material type (PP, PE, PET, PVC etc.)
b) Shape or thickness of the feed material
c) Desired product size
d) Cleanliness of feed material and product required
e) Capacity required (kg/hr)
f) Budget

With the above information we will be pleased to provide a proposal for a suitable plastics recycling system.

Tyre Recycling Plants

Using our experience as tyre processors we can supply complete systems for the recycling of car, truck and OTR tyres. The plants can shred, granulate and/or mill the rubber as required removing metal and fibre content in the process. The rubber product has a wide range of uses such as sports & equestrian surfaces, road construction, anti vibration and noise reduction products etc.

We will customise the plant design and build it to suit our customers specific requirements depending on the following criteria:

a) What type of tyres are being processed
b) Desired finished product size
c) Throughput capacity required (kg/hr)
d) Budget

With the above information we will be pleased to provide a proposal for a suitable recycling plant.

Copper Cable Recycling Plants

Having processed copper cable ourselves we can supply complete systems for the recycling of copper cable. The plants can shred, granulate the cable and then separate the copper granules from the plastic insulation providing a clean, saleable copper product.

We will customise the plant design and build it to suit our customers specific requirements depending on the following criteria:

a) What type of cable is being processed (household, industrial, armoured)
b) Throughput capacity required (kg/hr)
c) Budget

With the above information we will be pleased to provide a proposal for a suitable cable recycling plant.

E-Waste (WEEE) Recycling Plants

We can supply complete systems for the recycling of waste electronic and electrical equipment.

The plants can shred, crush and granulate the material and split it into saleable products (steel, copper, aluminium, plastic) as necessary.

We will custom design the recycling plant and build it to suit our customers specific requirements depending on the following criteria:

a) Feed Material Type (i.e. Televisions, Fridges, Computers, Hard Discs etc.)
b) Separations required.
c) Throughput capacity (kg/hr)
d) Budget

With the above information we will be pleased to provide a proposal for a suitable metals recycling plant.
