Founded in 1981 in response to a demand for more flexible software capabilities than standard off-the-shelf packages, Dataflow began to specialise in the design and development of business management software in 1984, with a particular emphasis on accounting. dBFLEX was released and acknowledged as one of the most versatile accounting systems available at the time.

Released in 1998, dataflow was the first true 32~bit product to be released for the UK SME market and was the first UK accounting software compatible with Microsoft's SQL Server. Although based on the design of dBFLEX, dataflow was a brand new system taking advantage of all aspects of the Windows environment.

Dataflow’s Waste Collection Disposal Management system allows full control and monitoring of regular collections/deliveries.  Schedules can be produced on a daily or weekly basis and the efficiency of the collections monitored.  Where special arrangements have to be made for the collection of materials or controlled waste the necessary paperwork will be produced.  Ad hoc collections can be added to the regular collection “rounds” as required.

Where collection data can be recorded by the vehicle, this can be downloaded into the dataflow system and a profitability report, on a customer by customer basis, can be produced.
 
The system also allows the user to produce customer quotes with the cost breakdown of the proposed collections and on acceptance of the quote, the details are automatically transferred into the live database.
