CEILING CONTRACTORS GET A LITTLE TLX-TRA HELP FROM ARMSTRONG
»Friday, March 5,2010
Installation times that are noticeably quicker are being recorded by installers of Armstrong Ceilings’ relaunched TLX suspended grid system.
Specialist contractor Brian Hendry Interiors, an Armstrong-approved Omega installer, claims there is now nothing else on the market to compare with the upgraded system which was the world’s first composite staked-on clip suspended grid system.
Originally launched by Armstrong 18 months ago, the TLX system has been improved further with a rebate detail to the revolutionary staked-on hook clip which makes it even easier to install at the same time as being more secure. An audible click once it is securely in place gives the contractor added assurance.
The development of the new TLX clip enabled Armstrong to use innovative thin gauge technology and significantly improve its tortional strength with a patented Peakform section and double stitching for rigidity, with the additional benefit of maintaining better alignment for ease of squaring during installation.
Glasgow-based Brian Hendry Interiors have used the TLX clip on numerous projects to date and are finding the new system, and its new installation method, noticeably quicker.
“It is a unique system. Our installers don’t have any problems with it at all and it is certainly a lot quicker and easier to install, about 5% quicker,” said managing director Brian Hendry MRICS.
Fellow contractor Peter Smith, managing director of Tamworth-based CIML Ceiling & Interiors (Midlands), also an Armstrong-approved Omega installer, who specialise in hospitals, schools, airports, offices and hotels, agreed. He said: “It is a much improved system, not only easier to fit but quicker too. We are very happy with it.”
The new clip was developed as a co-extrusion with a PVC coating to the steel clip, which allows it to be lighter than its traditional TL predecessor, in line with Armstrong’s commitment to the environment which is already evident in its Off-Cut and End-Of-Life recycling schemes.
