Ecotourism and Conservation

Coral Cay Conservation (CCC) is an internationally recognised and respected leader in the field of conservation. Volunteers are at the forefront of our work, gathering key information about the state and condition of tropical forests and coral reefs around the world, for the benefit of local communities that depend on them.

All CCC volunteers gain a huge amount of hands on experience in the field, developing keys skills and a greater understanding of the natural world. On expedition volunteers learn to identify, record and differentiate between a plethora of plants and animals that thrive in these beautiful yet fragile environments.

The information gathered goes directly into creating accurate habitat maps, illustrating a clear picture of life and the environment in the area. Governments can then use this valuable information and local environmental organisation to implement sustainable management plans. This has proved to be an extremely useful approach and has lead to the designation of protected areas around the world and most notably in Belize a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Volunteers work alongside local people in all the work we do allowing themĀ  to learn and experience new cultures and customs while at the same time-sharing their own with the locals, equally a keen to learn about the ways of life. The sharing of knowledge be it cultural, scientific or otherwise is core to what we do, and by working with governments, local organisations and local people we are able to make tropical forests and coral reefs community conservation, a practical reality!

Currently CCC has marine expeditions in Tobago and the Philippines, and with a history of successful conservation stewardship, other countries are continuing to invite us in, to assist with the implementation of their long-term conservation goals. And as a not for profit and charity volunteers can be assured that their work and financial contribution makes a real difference to the people's who's livelihoods depends on the reefs and rainforests of the world.
