Hazardous Waste Collection
We supply a range of specialised containers, including the secure, walk-in ‘Chemsafe’ units for storage of packaged hazardous waste. Drop-down shelves enable the safe and convenient storage of smaller items such as laboratory chemicals or paint tins. These containers feature an integral sump to cope with any spillage or leakage that may occur.
Our 800 litre ‘Grunsafes’ provide the ideal solution for storing hazardous solid waste on site. When filled, being UN approved enables their exchange with empty units. Full units are taken to our hazardous waste transfer station for processing and cleaning.
The Haz-Box Service
The Haz-Box collection service is tailored to the needs of producers who create only small volumes of hazardous waste, such as adhesives, aerosols, portable batteries, contaminated rags & wipes, oils & paints and cleaning chemicals.
This service not only ensures compliance with hazardous waste legislation but also enables waste producers to recycle a number of their hazardous waste items.
Customers are provided with a 55 litre plastic, lidded storage box which is emptied on a weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly basis.
Grundon’s ‘Hazpak’ system is one of only two aerosol recycling plants in the UK. Using Best Available Technology (BAT), the plant crushes and compacts aerosol cans to enable separation of the contents. Propellants are captured, compressed and used as a support fuel. The liquid contents are collected for recycling, blending as a fuel, treatment or incineration.
The cans themselves are compacted into briquettes, segregated accoring to metal type, and recycled.
We operate a dedicated fleet of specialist vehicles. These are equipped with cranes, tail lifts, drop sides or rolonof containers to facilitate handling of drums, containers, packages or bulky waste.
Grundon’s high capacity vacuum tankers are able to carry up to 27,000 litres. They are available for the collection and disposal of most types of liquid wastes, including:
- Interceptor waste
- Spray booth waste
- Rinse waters and effluent treatment plant waste
- Flammable solvent-based waste
- Caustic strippers and cleaners
- Pharmaceutical- and pesticide-contaminated liquids
- Industrial and domestic sewage
- Grease trap waste
- Food waste
To complement the tankers we also offer a high pressure jetting service when collecting more awkward high-solids waste.
All Technical Department drivers are ADR trained and certified for the carriage of dangerous goods, supported by our Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors (DGSAs) to ensure full compliance with current transport and waste legislation.
Other services from Grundon
We also provide general waste and mixed recyclables collections across the south of England.
