Level 3 NVQ Health & Safety Occupational Practice

Suitable for

This qualification is designed for candidates who are not health and safety professionals.  Level 3 signifies competence which involves the application of knowledge and skills of health and safety procedures.

Method of Delivery  

The assessment is undertaken at the candidate’s own site by an Awarding Body approved Assessor.  This reduces disruption to the candidates normal day to day work programme, which can occur with some training programmes, where the candidate has to leave the site to be trained in a classroom setting.

The award requires the candidate to build a portfolio of evidence which is assessed against a recognised standard and has the added benefit of being transferable between operational sectors.

Recognition

On successful completion of this qualification candidates receive an NVQ Certificate of Achievement along with their portfolio which has recorded their achievement to keep as reference.

The achievement of the award allows a candidate, to progress to the NVQ level 4 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice, they are then in a position to apply to IOSH to become a graduate member of the institution.

Health and Safety Occupational Practice Level 3

Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
Develop procedures to safety control work operations
Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
Promote a health and safe culture in the workplace
Conduct a health and safety risk assessment of a workplace



Plus, 2 of the below optional units:

Investigate and evaluate health and safety incidents and complaints in the workplace
Make sure your own actions within the workplace aim to protect the environment
Review health and safety procedures in workplaces
Supervise the health, safety and welfare of a learner in the workplace
Basic hazard awareness (knowledge unit)
