New EBS system commissioned in England with Austrian know-how
»Friday, February 26,2010
The British business group H.W. Martin has invested over 2 million pounds in a new processing plant in Northampton for the production of high-calorie alternative fuels. UNTHA shredding technology was responsible for providing the heart and soul of the system, a XR2000S pre-shredder and a TR3200 after-shredder. The plant went into operation at the beginning of August.
The expectations and standards set by the managers were exceeded by the production line operation of XR and TR units and from now on the new plant will be responsible for transforming 50,000 tonnes of industrial, commercial and bulky waste into high-calorie alternative fuels every year.
The operators were particularly impressed by the productivity and efficiency of the entire plant, as well as by the benefits of the new TR after-shredder. The pre-shredder is able to process 23 t/h and the after-shredder processes an amazing 10 t/h (granule size < 30mm), making this EBS processing system one of the most productive in the field. Attributes such as reliability, efficiency and ease-of-maintenance are just a few of the many advantages of this innovative system.
The H W Martin Group executives were ultimately convinced of the benefits of the machines after having seen an existing reference plant in full operation and working under very hard and realistic conditions. They were especially impressed with the new TR after shredder and its attributes such as the quick-change cutting system, the hydraulic door to protect the system from unshreddables and the unique design allowing extraordinary volumes of refuse to be processed without the use of a charging ram.
The entire system was completed within 8 weeks and subsequent to a successful test run was then declared fully operational.
Head of production at W Martin Waste Ltd., Mark Faulconbridge, was delighted the EBS processing plant was implemented so quickly by the companies involved and without any hitches. ‘Despite the tight installation schedule the plant was completed punctually. I would like to thank all the companies involved for the immense efforts they made for this project’.
UNTHA Shredders sees H W Martin’s involvement in this field as further proof of the confidence placed in this technology, one of the most reliable and economical means available to the market for investment in the production of alternative fuels.
